
Dr Tess Higgins

Meet Dr Tess, a University of Queensland trained General Practitioner. She achieved her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2018. Dr Tess is interested in the diverse nature of general practice and preventative medicine, but has a special interest in child and maternity health, women’s health, and minor procedures including wound repair, Implanon insertion/removal, and skin excisions. She also has an interest in COVID and Long COVID, attending the “Demystifying Long COVID International Conference” in 2024.
In 2019, Dr Tess travelled to Sweden and completed a Masters of Medical Science in Medical Management at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. She did her medical studies at the University of Queensland and then trained at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital, and The Prince Charles Hospital. She has also worked in rural and indigenous communities. She has acted as a medical officer and trainer for St John Ambulance First Aid services.
